History
Anama was originally part of Bungaree station, which was founded in 1841 by George Charles Hawker. His sons divided the property in 1906. Walter Hawker was the first owner and manager of Anama and he had a great interest in breeding animals.
Geoffrey Graeme Brock is an S.A. politician, representing the seat of Frome in the South Australian House of Assembly as an independent since the 2009 Frome by-election. Following the 2014 election Brock was Minister for Regional Development and Minister for Local Government in the Weatherill Labor cabinet
The story of Bungaree Station begins on Christmas Day 1841, when our ancestor, George C Hawker and his brothers, James and Charles, selected this as the site for their "head station". They found "good drinkable water at a depth of 8 feet and plenty of it" and named the property “Bungaree”, after the aboriginal name for the area.
